Overview

The Night Audit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all overnight Front Office operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, system balancing, and exceptional guest service during overnight hours. This role acts as the overnight leader of the hotel, maintaining operational integrity, guest safety, and seamless communication between departments while preparing the property for the following day’s operations. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor with guests, team members, and leadership at all times.
  • Oversee all overnight Front Office operations, including Front Desk, Guest Services, and overnight guest requests.
  • Execute and supervise the Night Audit process, ensuring accurate balancing of daily transactions, room revenue, and financial records.
  • Reconcile all hotel accounts, including cash, credit cards, city ledger, and house accounts.
  • Review, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in room status, rates, billing, and guest folios.
  • Balance and clear room status nightly, coordinating with Housekeeping to resolve discrepancies.
  • Run all required Night Audit reports and distribute them to department leaders and executive team.
  • Ensure accurate posting of room charges, taxes, and applicable fees.
  • Verify no-show reservations and ensure proper billing and revenue capture.
  • Manage guest check-ins, check-outs, and overnight requests efficiently and professionally.
  • Respond promptly to guest complaints, emergencies, or service recovery situations, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty (MOD) overnight, making operational decisions as needed.
  • Ensure all safety, security, and emergency procedures are followed, including incident reporting.
  • Conduct regular property walks to ensure security, cleanliness, and operational standards are maintained.
  • Monitor and enforce hotel credit policies and cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain proper key control and Lost & Found procedures.
  • Prepare and review daily reports including occupancy, ADR, revenue, and operational summaries.
  • Communicate all overnight activity through detailed logs and pass-along reports for morning leadership.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering teams for overnight tasks and urgent issues.
  • Utilize systems such as PMS, Alice platform, PBX, and reporting tools to track and resolve guest and operational needs.
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of wake-up calls, packages, and guest requests.
  • Maintain organized records of Night Audit reports, logs, and financial documentation.
  • Support training and development of Night Audit and overnight Front Office associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all Highgate Hotel SOPs and brand standards.
  • Assist with scheduling, payroll review, and overnight staffing productivity as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of Front Desk and back-office areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Front Office leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Previous Front Office or Night Audit experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with financial data and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced overnight environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle guest concerns with professionalism and urgency.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and familiarity with hotel systems (PMS) preferred.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and professionalism.
  • Ability to lift-up to 20 pounds occasionally and perform light physical tasks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, guest, and operational information.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel standards and safety regulations.
