Overview

Highgate’s internal transaction tax team is seeking an experienced Transaction Tax Manager. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing transaction tax audits in the hospitality industry. This role reports to the Director of Tax and is based in Highgate’s Irving, Texas office, with remote work available one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage state and local tax audits by evaluating information requests and helping develop strategies to defend tax filing positions.
  • Summarize audit results and communicate findings to operations.
  • Conduct tax research and support internal stakeholders with tax-related inquiries.
  • Partner with internal operations and finance teams to ensure processes align with state and local tax laws.
  • Provide technical support to transaction tax team members and operational personnel
  • Recommend and assist with process improvements.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, or equivalent professional experience. An advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA) is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience with transaction tax matters, including multijurisdictional audits and sales and use tax laws, concepts, and policies.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and manage deadlines independently.
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to share knowledge across the team.
  • Ability to support the automation of tax processes; must be comfortable using and helping implement technology solutions.
  • Management experience is a plus.
