Overview

The Cafe Manager is responsible for organizing and managing the day-to-day operations of the cafe. Overseeing the Baristas, to ensure excellent customer service, handle ordering and inventory, and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
  • Hire and onboard new wait staff and baristas
  • Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (like takeaway cups, coffee, milk and other ingredients)
  • Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
  • Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences (for example vegan coffee drinks)
  • Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service
  • Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy
  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of leadership experience in coffee shop/cafe environment.  
  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  •  Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a warm and welcoming environment during each shift.
  • Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. 
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
  • Follows  Highgate’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that associates can locate resources and product as needed.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
