This 645-room hotel is perfectly located on Honolulu's famous Kalakaua Avenue, where it is just steps to the beach and an arm's reach to the best dining, shopping, and entertainment in the area. Guests can borrow the hotel's own towels and beach chairs to spend the day by the sea, or choose to lay out by the hotel's pool with a tropical drink from nearby Tiki's Grill and Bar. And for the adventurous, The Twin Fin offers a on-site activities desk ready to curate a number of fun experiences.
 

Overview

The Venue Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Activations in managing all aspects of the activity venues while providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service to all guests, including successfully resolving guest request, throughout their stay, while maximizing revenue and occupancy. He/she is responsible for achieving activity venues objectives and profitability goals, achieving, and maintaining high operational and merchandising standards, development of clientele base, building highly motivated teams, and creating and maintaining a positive, productive work environment in alignment with the company’s vision and objectives.

Responsibilities

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in retail purchasing, sales, and retailing. Hospitality, or theme park experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient with computers and POS systems.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills required
  • College Degree helpful.

Physical requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required including weekends and evenings.
  • Light work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking bending and kneeling

Qualifications

General requirements:

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Communicate company information and directives to staff through daily and monthly meetings.
  • Proactively network and teach the Activates Ambassadors how to consistently build and develop client base.
  • Proactively manage the clientele function in the store and regularly measure success and opportunity
  • Maintain active leadership presence on the activity venues to demonstrate, assist, and coach associates.
  • Identify opportunities and/or propose business strategies to increase top line sales (local market events, shows, client events, etc.)
  • Ensure that the staff consistently prioritizes the customer’s experience on the property.
  • Partner with the Director of Activation to create and execute strategies to maximize activity venues.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Stocking shelves/updating shelf layouts by following a planogram.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Fundamental Requirements:

  • Daily knowledge of all VIP’s, sites, functions, and groups.
  • Motivate, train and counsel all activities personnel according to hotel standards.
  • Point of contact for hotel and 3rd party operators for programming, hotel activities and other evening activities.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
  • Coordinate the schedule of entertainment/live music for hotel outlets.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Ensure all activity venues are prepared for proper opening and closing each day.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Be familiar with activity types & setup and greet with client upon arrival to review set-up for accuracy.
  • Coach and guide the activities staff to achieve and exceed individual sales goals and conduct performance appraisals for employees.
  • Overall safety of staff and visitors at activity venues, which includes compliance with all regulatory (OSHA) requirements, corporate governance requirements.
  • Implements Company programs and manages the operations of activity venues to ensure compliance with SOPs, safety regulations and federal, state and local regulations to ensure an optimal level of service, quality and hospitality to the guest(s)
  • Assist in the hiring, training, supervise and evaluate all activities staff, with the assistance of supervisors where appropriate.
  • Conducts inventory checks and maintains inventory records.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of pool area, inclusive of all chair, umbrellas, and cabanas.
  • Assist in daily function of pool area, towel distribution and care for cabana rentals.
  • Ensure compliance with Honolulu Liquor Commission policies, health regulations, and hotel standards.
  • Work with Director in managing budgets, schedules, and operational strategies to achieve team and hotel goals.
  • Assists with activity venues goals and creating strategic sales plans with the Director of Activations.
  • Demonstrate a customer centric mindset by role modeling selling behaviors with a passion for the brand, customer and product.
  • Meet and/or exceed profitability expectations for the all the activity venues in all KPIs (sales, payroll, etc.)
  • Establish weekly/monthly goals for each activity ambassador and motivate sales team to exceed goals.
  • Prioritize daily activity venues issues and delegate responsibilities to staff.
  • Ensure store is consistently recovered and customer ready everyday meeting brand standards on the sales floor and back-of-house
  • Maintain communication with all departments of the hotel.
  • Devise, guide and supervise the on-going training program.
  • Research and purchase of retail goods for in retail outlets in keeping with the hotel atmosphere, ambiance and flavor.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the activity venues.
  • Oversee the activity venues physical plant to ensure facilities and equipment are in proper condition and good working order.
  • Assist with reconciling and approving monthly general ledger and income statements.
