Overview

The Complex Senior Catering Sales is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his / her market segment. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. He/she will assist Complex Director of Catering in directing, coordinating, training and supervising the Catering and Conference Services (Event) Managers. He/she is expected to market ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; maintain revenue and payroll budgets; and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high.

Responsibilities

Education & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Must have knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
  • Marriott Consolidated Inventory System “CI” experience a plus

 Physical requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

  • Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business. Initiate and follow up on leads.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program.
  • Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
  • Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget.
  • Meet or exceed set goals.
  • Attend and be prepared for daily Highgate Hotel Business Review (HHBR) meeting.
  • Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services
  •       and Reservations.
  • Manage the hotel sales system or function book and adjust space in order to ensure maximum potential revenue.
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during functions.
  • Assist Complex Director of Catering to respond to guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Know meeting room set-ups and capabilities.
  • Know sleeping room configurations and types.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audiovisual, switchboard, accounting, restaurants, bars, and engineering.
  • Plan and execute holiday and special events in conjunction with the Catering Managers.
  • Use feedback from Meeting Planner evaluations to improve service and quality.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the ongoing implementation of the Highgate Hotel Enrichment philosophy of service.
  • Focus team on their role in contributing to the guest service and audit scores.
