    Overview

    The Associate Director of Sales for Park Central NY Hotel is responsible for assisting the Director of Sales and Marketing in the direction, coordination, and supervision of the Sales Managers, Catering Manager(s) and the Sales Administrators in all sales-related activities, including direct sales efforts, follow-up and proper sales administration.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Proactively builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include but not limited to; sales calls, on and off-site entertainment, FAM trips and occasional trade show or industry related events.  Primary focus is on Corporate and Association group business, group business relating to Entertainment, Media, Marketing, Publishing, Communications, Fashion, Retail, Transportation, Professional Sports.
    • Identifies new business to meet or exceed set revenue goals
    • Initiate and follow up on leads
    • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
    • Be familiar with all Highgate Hotel Sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Banquet and Catering revenues 
    • Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property
    • Develop strategies to increase group share from competitors when the hotel revenue penetration goals are not being met
    • Supervises assigned sales staff: assists DOSM in hiring , terminations, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations and development.
    • Qualifies all prospective group leads for own market and distributes group leads to appropriate team members.
    • Participates in GRC reviews, providing detail and insight into group progress.
    • Meets with and maintains rapport with individuals and contacts in order to produce groups and/or convention business, to include guest room, meeting rental, services and Catering/Banquet sales for the group market.
    • Attends industry meetings ensuring a positive rapport and relationships with area decision and opinion leaders including but not limited to, the convention and visitors bureau.
    • Schedules group rooms, conventions and business group activities at the hotel.
    • Maintains liaison with other operating departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the group sales office and prospective clients.
    • Assists the DOSM in the creation and update of the hotel's marketing plan and budget.
    • Formulates and executes projects for the group market areas as stated in the marketing plan.
    • Enforces group sales related policies and procedures.
    • Develops and maintains client files.
    • Works with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to control dates, availability and rates.
    • Approves function space allocation for group catering and meeting bookings.
    • Stays abreast of competition and industry developments as it relates to group business.
    • Prepares group related reports as including, but not limited to Productivity Report, Weekly Plan, Sales Call Reports.
    • Works closely with Food and Beverage and Rooms Divisions to ensure above average service levels.
    • Participates weekly sales meetings.
    • Attends staff meetings.
    • Attends and presents group related data, as requested, at all meetings with management company and ownership groups for the hotel.
    • Assists DOSM in interviewing, hiring, training and evaluation all group sales personnel, as required.
    • Completes projects as determined by the DOSM.

    Qualifications

    • At least 5 years of progressive hotel sales experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 4 years of hotel sales experience.
    • Must have sufficient computer skills that allows the individual to be able to use, in a proficient manner, all issued software programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, and Delphi
    • Long hours sometimes required.
    • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
    • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
    • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
    • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
    • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
    • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
    • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
    • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
    • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
    • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
    • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
    • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
    • Perform other duties as requested by management.
