Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager at Hotel Bardo Savannah, who will be responsible for supporting the Director of Engineering in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering team. This role involves ensuring the efficient functioning of all engineering systems, equipment, and facilities within the resort premises. The Assistant Manager will assist in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and guest satisfaction while also coordinating with other departments to meet operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Engineering in managing the engineering team, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Support the planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, maintenance issues, and emergency situations to minimize disruptions and ensure guest comfort and safety.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, and equipment servicing as needed.
  • Monitor and control departmental expenses, including maintenance supplies, utilities, and contractor services, within budgetary guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and public areas to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work orders using the resort’s management systems.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a secure working environment for team members and guests.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping, Front Office, and Food & Beverage, to coordinate maintenance activities and support overall resort operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in engineering management to recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an engineering or facilities maintenance department, preferably in a resort or hospitality setting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as building codes and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, guests, and external partners.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexible schedule with the availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stamina to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods and work in confined spaces or at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
  • Agility to navigate various areas of the resort property, including stairs, ramps, and outdoor spaces.
